Brendan P. Foley, III

Brendan P. Foley, III
2001 – 2019

Dublin, Ohio

Brendan Foley passed at the age of 18 in his home surrounded by his loving family on World NET Cancer Awareness Day. Diagnosed at the age of 15 with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, Brendan’s symptoms first appeared at age 12.

Brendan focused on living a normal life as a teenager. This fall he began his freshman year at Ohio State University and was attending classes as recently as the first week of November. He graduated from Bishop Watterson High School, Columbus, Ohio, where he played varsity and club boys’ volleyball and earned the rank of Eagle Scout last year. His proudest achievement was helping the Watterson volleyball team to its state runner-up title in 2019.

Throughout his cancer journey, he maintained a positive attitude, persevering through surgeries, PRRT, pain and other physically disruptive symptoms. He had a supportive group of friends and family who stood by him every step of the way.

Brendan’s parents, Brendan Jr. and Deb Foley, discovered NETRF while searching for information online. They attended NETRF patient and caregiver conferences and then became more involved with the Foundation. Brendan Jr. joined the Board of Directors in 2018 and currently serves on the Finance Committee and chairs the Development Committee.

In Brendan’s memory, the Foley family asks for donations to NETRF to support research to help advance knowledge of neuroendocrine cancer, which remains poorly understood and underfunded, despite its growing incidence. Brendan Jr. believes scientific research can help develop new treatments, but that requires funding.

Thank you for your consideration.
