Lara Skidmore
July 6, 1969 – July 7, 2019

Lake Oswego, Oregon

“Lara, we LOVE you, miss you and will remember you forever!”

Lara L. Skidmore passed away on July 7, 2019 (on her 50th birthday) of neuroendocrine cancer after a long and heroic journey.

Lara grew up in Southeast Portland with her parents, Mike and Dotty Holm and her brother, Lance. She graduated from Cleveland High School as an Oregon Scholar and then received her degree from Oregon State University in 1990 and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Lara attended law school at Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College, graduating in 1993.

Lara began work during law school at Bonneville Power Administration where she worked in the Transmission Branch and in the Office of General Counsel. In 2002 she began work at PacifiCorp, eventually becoming Associate General Counsel. In 2007 she joined the law firm of Troutman Sanders and in 2010 became the Office Managing Partner for the Portland Office. Among her many professional successes was winning a landmark ruling from FERC and mentoring many young lawyers. Her leadership and grace will be long remembered.

Lara was most proud of her two wonderful and treasured sons, Benjamin and Jacob. In 2017 she married John Moot and gained three great stepchildren, Taylor, Ryan, and Rebecca. Together, they built a strong family foundation. Her family and friends will always have a piece of their hearts missing — there are no words to express their loss. She was beautiful inside and out!

Lara’s family invites you to join in participating in the establishment of the Lara Skidmore Tribute Fund for NET Research. They have set a fundraising goal of $25,000.  Lara’s Fund will be put to use later this year supporting new, innovative research initiatives to better understand, treat, and ultimately cure neuroendocrine cancer.
