This month NETRF CEO Elyse Gellerman presented on behalf of INCA at the ASCO Quality Care Symposium in Boston. NETRF is a member of INCA, the International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance, which represents 36 neuroendocrine cancer patient advocacy organizations around the world. In a poster, Elyse shared results from SCAN 2025, INCA’s global survey of neuroendocrine cancer patients. The largest survey of its kind, SCAN looks at outcomes for neuroendocrine cancer care access, cost, and quality. The 2025 survey follows a 2019 baseline.
Patient-reported quality of care edged up globally, from 3.5 to 3.6. The rating for care quality in Emerging and Developing Economies improved from 2.5 to 3.02. Patients also reported lower out-of-pocket costs for neuroendocrine tumor (NET) treatments and imaging. The exception was PRRT, which rose significantly in Advanced Economies. Monthly travel costs to specialized care fell 44% globally.
ASCO describes the Quality Care Symposium as the premier meeting on the quality, safety,
nd efficiency of cancer care delivery. It brings the full clinical care team together, with more than 700 abstracts this year under the theme “Quality Coming Together to Innovate Patient Care.” For an uncommon cancer like neuroendocrine, a place on this program is significant. Conversations about quality, access and affordability are often shaped by more common cancers. Highlighting patient-reported data from thousands of people living with neuroendocrine cancers ensures their experience of access, cost, and care is part of how the field defines and works to improve quality.
