Nonfunctional and Functional Lung NETs

Nonfunctional and functional lung NETs

Functional NETs in the lungs can cause a range of symptoms such as flushing, diarrhea, or wheezing.

Diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia, or DIPNECH, is a rare lung condition characterized by the abnormal proliferation of pulmonary neuroendocrine cells. DIPNECH may or may not cause symptoms.

Over time, DIPNECH may progress to a lung NET. The cause of DIPNECH is not known. NETRF is funding research to better understand this rare condition.
