At a NETRF Patient and Caregiver Conference
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to register for a NETRF patient and caregiver event. The costs for our events are underwritten by charitable contributions to the Foundation. In addition to a full day of expert talks, NETRF also provides free healthy refreshments and meals to attendees. In dense metropolitan areas, attendees may need to pay for parking, but in most cases, parking is also free.
Who attends?
Around 100 people attend each conference, many traveling from nearby states. People often attend with a friend, loved one, or caregiver. There is a wide mix of attendees. Some have been newly diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer, others have lived with NETs for five, 10 or 20 years.
Where do you hold conferences?
Our patient and caregiver conferences are usually held at a hotel conference center or major medical center. We have held conferences in California, Indiana, Illinois, Philadelphia, Texas, and New York. NETRF partners with local organizations, such as a NET cancer center or support group. Individuals associated with the local partners help out with event planning, logistics, and registration.
What is on the agenda?
While the agenda for each conference varies based on patient feedback and presenter expertise and availability, all seminars feature a panel of leading clinicians in the fields of oncology, surgery, nutrition, and psychosocial wellness. Each expert typically gives a brief presentation followed by a moderated question and answer session. This unique platform is highly effective at connecting patients and caregivers with physicians who can answer pertinent questions and provide the latest information on neuroendocrine cancer treatment and research. Throughout our conferences, we build in opportunities for attendees to interact with distinguished medical professionals and fellow patients through formally moderated panels, as well as during meals and breaks.
When do you hold conferences?
NETRF holds an average of four conferences a year. Most commonly in the spring and fall, but we have also had events in summer and winter. Fill out the form to the left to join our mailing list to notified of patient education events.
