Dear NETRF Supporters,

My son Cole never had the chance to play basketball for the Duke Blue Devils. His dream of stepping onto the campus in North Carolina this fall was denied by neuroendocrine cancer which took him four years ago at the age of 14. While I cannot join the other moms who are helping their sons and daughters move into their dorm rooms and begin a new phase of their lives, I can keep Cole’s spirit alive by asking for your help to accomplish another of his dreams: to do everything possible so that no other family has to endure the loss of a loved one to NETs.

Cole was always a team player, from his days as a shooting forward on the Bakersfield Bulldogs to his evenings in the backyard tossing a football with his brother Ethan or pitching a baseball to his sister Olyvia. When diagnosed with this uncommon, aggressive cancer, Cole was committed to being a member of his medical team that would find answers leading to a cure for NETs. He bravely participated in clinical trials with the attitude that even if they did not benefit him, the doctors could observe and learn from his experience. When the medical team gave Cole the devastating news that he had just a few weeks to live, my son – wise beyond his years – declared that he would donate his neuroendocrine tumor so researchers might learn from it and discover ways to save lives. In my eyes, that day he became a NET team captain!

I miss my Cole every single day. For those of you who have lost someone dear to you, you know all too well how your life is forever changed. To keep Cole’s memory alive and to honor his courageous spirit, I am supporting NETRF’s mission to fund research that will develop more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for this misunderstood and underfunded cancer.

In honor of those you hold dear, I’m inviting you to join me on the NET team to make Cole’s last wishes come true. Your tax-deductible gift to NET Research Foundation has an immediate and lasting impact – funding the vital discoveries of NET researchers, supporting education for patients, families, and caregivers, and giving NET patients a greater quality of life. Your contribution is critical today! You can make your gift in honor or memory of someone you love.

“Cole’s doctor said he had never seen anybody live as much as Cole did in those months when he was fighting this terrible disease. He never gave up.”
