NETRF represented at NANETS 2024

NETRF was well-represented at NANETS 2024, the annual meeting of the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society held in November. Several hundred physicians, researchers, and patient advocates attended the meeting in Chicago. CEO Elyse Gellerman and Director of Patient Education Jessica Thomas represented NETRF, along with Board members Josh Mailman and Carrie Camino.

Many NETRF grantees presented their work during the three-day conference, including Drs. Po Hien Ear, Xianxin Hua, Netta Makinen, Mauro Cives, Eleonora Pelle, Sharon Gorski, and Iacovos Michael.

Dr. Victor Santoro Fernandes of the University of Wisconsin was recognized as the 2024 NANETS Basic/Translational Science Investigator. NETRF funds this collaborative award, and NANETS selects the recipient. Elyse Gellerman participated in presenting the award to Dr. Santoro Fernandes. His two-year, $100,000 research grant will develop a robust predictive model to identify which NET patients will benefit most from peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT).

Neuroendocrine cancer patient advocates also gathered at NANETS to discuss collaboration. It was a wonderful chance to meet with colleagues and share how we are supporting neuroendocrine cancer patients and caregivers.
