Post by Jan Eisner, Run for the Stripes Race Director
On November 7, 2015, Run For The Stripes, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, held its annual run/walk to raise awareness and funds for NET research. The Run For The Stripes 5K is held on a Saturday near November 10, which is National Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Day. The run takes place at the Philadelphia Zoo in order to be in the same community as the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center, which has an established program for treating neuroendocrine cancers. The 5K run/walk offers an event for patients, families, medical staff and the general public.
Run For The Stripes 5K had another successful and fun event at the Philadelphia Zoo. For the fourth year in a row, we enjoyed beautiful weather, and again, had nearly 600 participants. We raised just over $30,000 this year for neuroendocrine cancer research. One hundred percent of every offline and online donation and net income from race proceeds are used to support NET research.
